about

This song is not about a girl.

I was required to read this God awful play in high school called "Romeo and Juliet". It was supposed to be the greatest love story every told or something. Titanic hadn't come out yet.

I hated it. But I never lost the sense that the name Juliet was a metaphor for something most desirable.

I had a melody that I wrote singing "ooooh" and the name seemed to fit. The song ended up being about something I was chasing, but again, it wasn't a girl. It was the buzz. It was the light headed feeling I got on stage performing in front of a large group. It's about achieving that shit-eating grin that you can't get anywhere else.

If "Subway Panic" is about feeling nervous, "Juliet" is about finding bliss from nervousness. It's the toe curling, chill-inducing feeling that was completely unexpected.

The wurly on this one is tasty.

lyrics

I take a look around
All I see
Voice after voice is screaming at me

I throw back reverse
I run and hide
Pockets turned inside and out of time

And Juliet
I can’t forget
Juliet

Another look around
All I see
Voice after voice is screaming for me

Day out day in
Hypnotized
I’ve lost control I’m paralyzed

And Juliet
I can’t forget
Juliet

And Juliet
Don’t leave yet
Juliet

(bridge solo)
And Juliet
I can’t forget
Juliet (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

And Juliet
Don’t leave yet
Juliet
